Who we are
This privacy policy explains how Spinfin UK Guide, the editorial team publishing spinfincasinouk.co.uk, handles information about the people who read it. We act as the data controller for this website under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, and you can reach us at any time at editor@spinfincasinouk.co.uk.
Context matters for what follows: we are an independent guide, not a gambling operator and not Spinfin. We run no player accounts, we take no deposits and we never see a cashier, so the categories of data a casino holds about its customers simply do not exist on our side.
What we collect
Our privacy policy is short on personal data because the site collects very little of it. In normal browsing we receive anonymous or aggregated usage statistics — which pages are opened, roughly how long a visit lasts, whether the device is a phone or a desktop, the broad country or region, and the type of browser — plus whatever cookie preference you have set.
We do not take registrations, deposits or card details, and we do not ask you to create an account. There is no newsletter sign-up, no contact form and no comment section on this site, so the only way we hold your name or e-mail address is if you choose to write to us. If you do send an e-mail, we keep it to answer you and for our records of corrections.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. We use two kinds: strictly necessary cookies, which remember your cookie choice and keep the site working, and analytics cookies, which help us count visits and see which pages people actually read. Analytics cookies are only set where you have agreed to them.
You can refuse or remove them at any point. Every modern browser lets you block cookies, delete those already stored, or browse in a private window that discards them when you close it; the controls sit in your browser's privacy settings. Blocking analytics cookies has no effect on the content you can read here.
Partner links
Some buttons on this site are commercial links to a casino licensed by the UK Gambling Commission. When you follow one, you leave our site and the receiving operator's own privacy policy and cookies apply to you from that moment — including any tracking it uses to credit the referral.
We do not pass your name, e-mail address or any identifying detail to that operator, because we do not hold it. What we see in return is aggregate reporting: how many readers clicked, and whether a referral was credited. If you want to know how the operator treats your data, read the privacy notice on its own site before you register.
Legal basis under UK GDPR
We rely on two legal bases. Consent covers analytics cookies and anything else that is not essential, and you may withdraw it at any time through your browser settings. Legitimate interests cover the secure operation of the site, basic server logs needed to keep it available and protect it from abuse, and correspondence you initiate with us.
How long we keep data
Aggregated analytics are retained for up to 26 months and then discarded or kept only in a form that cannot identify anyone. Server logs are held for a short operational period, normally no more than 90 days. E-mail correspondence is kept for up to 24 months after our final reply, unless it records a correction we may need to evidence later.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us for a copy of any personal data we hold about you, have inaccurate data corrected, request erasure, object to processing based on legitimate interests, or ask us to restrict what we do with it. You can also withdraw cookie consent whenever you like.
Write to editor@spinfincasinouk.co.uk and we will respond within one month. In practice, most requests are answered quickly and with the same answer: we hold nothing about you beyond what is described above.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's independent data protection regulator, and doing so does not affect any other remedy available to you.
Changes to this policy
We review this privacy policy as the site develops, and the review date at the top of this page shows the version you are reading. Material changes — a new analytics provider, a different retention period — are reflected here when they take effect, so it is worth a glance when you return. Our terms and conditions cover the wider rules for using the site.
